Troubleshooting Guide
If your Loncel device is not behaving as expected, follow these general troubleshooting steps.
Communication Issues
Section titled “Communication Issues”Device Offline in Cloud
Section titled “Device Offline in Cloud”If a device appears “Offline” on the Loncel Cloud dashboard:
- Check Power: Ensure the device has power.
- Check Signal LEDs: Observe the status LEDs on the device.
- Green: Connected.
- Red: Disconnected.
- Inspect Antennas: Ensure all antennas (LTE, 915MHz) are securely tightened and have a clear line-of-sight if applicable.
- Reboot: Power cycle the device by disconnecting the power for 10 seconds and reconnecting.
- Check Battery: Verify battery voltage (should be ~3.6V). WVC-GS radios use a high-capacity 8500mAh Li-SOCl2 battery. Voltages below 3.3V are considered low and may cause radio faults.
- Line of Sight: Ensure there is no excessive foliage or new obstacles between the radio and the Base/Repeater.
- Inspect Hardware: Check for damage caused by livestock or extreme weather (lightning, intense rain).
- Ping Test: Use the Ping function in the dashboard to manually trigger a communication test.
- Check Power: Ensure the RMU is connected to a stable power source.
- Check LTE Connection: Press the Test button on the RMU to initiate a manual data transmission and show the system status menu.
- Reboot: Power cycle the device by disconnecting the power for 10 seconds and reconnecting.
Sensor & Valve Issues
Section titled “Sensor & Valve Issues”Analog Input (4-20mA) Reading 0
Section titled “Analog Input (4-20mA) Reading 0”If your RMU or Gateway is reading 0mA for a sensor:
- Check Wiring: Verify the sensor is wired correctly to the terminal blocks.
- Measure Loop Current: Use a multimeter to verify if the sensor is actually outputting a current.
- verify Power: Ensure the 4-20mA loop has the required excitation voltage (usually provided by the RMU or an external supply).
Valve Not Opening
Section titled “Valve Not Opening”If a WVC-GS Valve Radio is not triggering a solenoid:
- Manual Override: Try to trigger the valve manually via the Loncel Cloud interface to rule out scheduling issues.
- Check Solenoid: Inspect the wiring to the latching solenoid. Ensure the solenoid is a DC latching type compatible with the radio output.
- Check Signal Strength: Verify the radio has a strong link to the Base or Repeater radio.
